Mr. Lorenz and I have implemented a new grammar program titled, "Caught Ya in the Middle". This program involves an on-going high interest story and is presented in small chunks as bell work each day. The students get to work on this straight away and will have a caught ya for each day of the week. For each chunk of the story, students make corrections and try to catch as many as they can. Mr. Lorenz and I pre-select mistakes or skills we want to cover that day and the students will make corrections where they need. Friday all Caught Ya's will be collected and one will be for a grade. So far the students have been briefed on the 6th and 7th grade portion of this story and are ready now for the 8th grade in which all the lessons will be derived!
IN ADDITION: this program allows each chunk to not only address grammar rules but new vocabulary, writing rules, poetry and spelling. We are very excited to get started!
