Today, students were quizzed on vocabulary out loud by indicating the proper word given the synonyms to that word. Our study continued on context clues. We looked at and practice using definition, synonym, antonym, visual, cause and effect, summary and description context clues in order to improve vocabulary acquisition and reading comprehension. I am so excited that they are really getting "it" and realizing just how easy it makes it to figure out new words while reading! Lastly, in preparation for the upcoming novel project and to practice cross-text reading, we reviewed the parts of plot and then listened to a short story, "Raymond's Run" and tomorrow will fill in a Plot Map handout.
Tomorrow: quiz (connotation, denotation and context clues)
