Understanding suffixes and prefixes, in this case "PED", will allow student to use the knowledge in any reading to make sense out of new words. In this case, they have learned that 'PED' means foot so that anyword containing 'PED' involves something with the food.
Today we worked in "core groups" and learned the 10 vocabulary words in a group challenge. Each group had to organize definitions and match them to the terms and then be able to share outloud how they figured it out. It was great to see their connections and how they pulled in information they already knew to think it through.
