No, do not think that the rules of this socierty are fair because you future is picked for you and u cant choose your own.
ReplyDeleteUgh. I do not like the rules and guidelines of this community. I don't like the idea that you can't plan out your own life, and that someone does it for you. I would like to pick my own job and relationships. I don't think that the rules in The Giver are leading the community to be perfect, because if I was living there, I would REBEL!
ReplyDeleteI think that the rules are perfect beacuse that way every thing is the same no fites with parents about she got to do this before me or how come she can do that now but i couldn't when I was her age.
ReplyDeleteI dont like the rules and quidelines of the community.I think its wrong that others choose your life and your relationship. You should be able to pick your own future. I also think that the rules to the community are leading the community to be perfect.
ReplyDeletei think that some of the rules are kind of strict but I think that they are pretty reasonable. Plus it helps towards a good society. I think they are pretty good rules to have for a personal society. no family is too rich or too poor and nobody has more that 2 kids. that is what i think about the Utopian society.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the rules are not very fair. For example not riding a bike 'til you are seven. Plus the fact that if a baby isn't the right size it is released from the community. I do not believe they are on their way to a perfect society, and eventually someone might stand up against the rules. Maybe when that happens things will change in the society. That is what I think about the utopian society and their rules.
ReplyDeleteI think that the Utopian society will not be "perfect". It is not fair that people dont get to live thier lifes the way they want to. Soem people might want more than two chlideren at one time. Adults should be able to pick thier spouces and Childeren. People should make thier own decsions about what thier job or assinment might be.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts on some of the rules are that some should not be rules. Refering to the giver I think you should be able to chose your husband, have your own child.I dont see why you have to be a sertain age to do sertain things.
ReplyDeleteI feel the rules in The Giver are not leading to a perfect community, but to a controling community.
I think that the rules with the Utopian society is unfair and not perfect. People are only allowed to have one girl and one boy. As they go through the stages of life, their jobs are picked for them, they lose comfort objects, and the people choose when they get to ride a bike. They aren't allowed to pick their spouses and children. I think that they should be able to pick and choose all these things.
ReplyDeletei don't think that the rules are nessary because they are very strict and have no room for mistakes. This city is a strict place and if you do mess up u will be relased and i think that u should get a second chance.
ReplyDeleteI think that they are being a little too perfectbecause if you make one mistake you get released from the community i think that is too strict of a community
ReplyDeleteMy thought on the rules of the society is that they are not aloud too feel one way about someone. They also have to get a newchild from the society its self, they can not have their own. I don't think these rules are fair at all.
ReplyDelete@ali.b you mentioned that it wasn't fair the families to just have one boy and one girl and that is it. Do you think that by limiting the amount of children per family, it would cut down on a lot of problems that face today's society??? Think in terms of "unwanted" children.
ReplyDelete@ ann s....should you be able to pick your own husband? Do you think that the divorce rate in our society would go down if hour spouses were chosen for us based on strict observations of our personalities, likes, abilities etc. Today's divorce rate is over 50%.....maybe we aren't doing a good job of choosing on our own. Thoughts anyone?
ReplyDelete@katelyn......uh, uh, uh......if you rebelled in that society, you would be released and you know what that means....yikes!!!
ReplyDeleteI think that the society is not perfect. if it were all the rules would be followed to the letter and knowone would ever be realeased.
ReplyDeleteI think what Mrs. Kaufman said about the divorce rate is true. I also think that it limits peoples choices. Not everyone may be good with someone that they are alike too. Think of the saying opposites attract.
ReplyDeleteI think that the rules are too strict and way too boring. I do not think that these rules are leading the world to be perfect because a world is only perfect when everyone there is always happy and that there is no sadness or death. For a world to be perfect there has to be feelings, and there are no feelings in this world.
ReplyDeleteI think that some of the rules that the community has are a little wierd. Like when you have "sturings" you have to take a pill for it, and that you cant pick your job.
ReplyDeleteThe book does not go right to the point. The book explains the rules thats great, but why does it go up til the 9th chapter to start with the jorney.A great book would get right to the point in the 3rd or the 4th chapter. And the thing I don't like is that if you make one mistake you are removed and will never return. Even if you didn't make a mistake and you were born wrong you were to be removed. And why don't you have your own child insted of having birth mothers. And also just inmagen a war starting up what would happen.
ReplyDeleteThe society in generial is perfect but if its looked up close its not. For example , the piolet, he broke a rules and was realeased, but as you look at the society as a whole it is very close to perfect, as every age more and and more independance is given, how their jobs are chosen and the familys. But as seeing hox dull it sounds it not for vivid people.
ReplyDeleteI also think that some of the rules are NOT FAIR. They DON'T have cellphones, i would protest! i do not care if i was released! i would go and find my way in the real world instead of the fantasy world they are trying to live in. i would not be able to live without my cellphone!
ReplyDeletei think the society is perfect because everyone is the same. they all wear the same clothes at the same age, and all have the same 'Gifts' at the same time. the only thing that is different is they do different roles in the society when they turn 12.
ReplyDeleteDo you think that Jonas likes his society or would he rather have one like ours?
ReplyDeleteyes i do think that the rules are leading the community to be perfect but in my prospective i wouldnt like it. Its better to have choices on what to do with your life other than people telling you what you have to do for a job or pick your husband and also not being alowed to pick your childs name!
ReplyDeleteI think the comunity is not perfect at all! In my mind i think it is a messed up comunity and it is borning and to strict. The one rule that think is stupid is the one that says your not alound to feel one away about someone. Another rule that i disagree with is that your not allowed to pick your husband or sibling or chile. The comunity picks it out for you which is to strict i think.
ReplyDeleteI think that the rules are dumb. It is so stupid for you to not be able to show your individualality. They should not have the right to choose the way you live your life. It is wrong! Everyone has the right to there own opinoins and there own beliefs. You can't choose who you want somone to love and you can't choose someones kids for them. Its not fair. I would make it so that I would be released so I wouldn't have to live there. And no it is not a perfact socoity. Nothing is perfact no matter what and it has flaws. So yeah. I think I'm right becuase it's all rong. Its basicly a sociaty where theres a king, who is the Head Elder or what ever it was, that rules over everyone els. He or she Basicly tells everyone whats going to happen in there life instead of them living the way they want to. And its like telling someone who is good at art and wants to be an artist that they are gonna be a doctor. Its bad. So yeah thats about it.
ReplyDeleteI think that this society would stink. You couldn't mary who you wanted to merry. You can't ever have a child unless you were a birthmother. I would tell them that i didn't have a dream even though I had one. And whats up with the bikes, doesn't anyone have a car. I think that you should be able to get your bike at a earlyer age.
ReplyDeleteNo, i think that the society would stink. You couldnt even merry who you wanted too!I would try to escape from that society.
ReplyDeleteDo you think our society would be better off like Jonas's?
ReplyDeleteNo, i do not think the rules are making the community perfect. It is not fair to have your job picked for you. You should be able to choose your own job that you are comfortable doing and that you like. Also, i think you shouldnt have to be told when you can ride a bike. You should be able to make your own decisions.
ReplyDeleteanother way that society is perfect is how little they polute,if you noticesed that every one rides a bike! The only thing so far that could harm the enviroment is the planes. But also the society is one they all grew up in , not us so we wont know how it is or how it feels.
ReplyDeleteJonas would rather stay in his comunity than move to ours. Our society would not be perfect and Jonas won't know what to do if he was in a trouble.
ReplyDeleteNo,I do not think that the rules in this society are very fair.I think that they should not be able to pick your future for you.I also think that they should not be able to kick you out of the society.
ReplyDeleteI think that they are tryimg to be to perfect. You have to tell them ever dream that you have. And can't merry how you want.
ReplyDeleteSome of the rules are kind of wierd. For example, you have to wait until you are nine to ride a bicyle, many people I know learned how to ride a bicylce before that, I don't know how waiting to ride a bicyle makes a society "perfect". Nothing is perfect so might as well not try to make everything perfect.
